Having just received the Mojo ’’ Legend Award’’ this June, presented to him by his old friend Jimmy Page, there can be no other word used to describe the uncompromising talent that is Roy Harper. The Clonakilty International Guitar festival will offer a selected lucky few the opportunity to learn from the man whose guitaring has influenced so many seminal bands throughout the years. A track dedicated to him on Led Zeppelin III and a vocal performance on 'Have a Cigar' for Pink Floyd’s 'Wish You Were Here' album are just two examples of his status amongst his peers. He has put together over 30 albums in a 35-year career & has lived in West Cork for the last 15 years. Roy's lyrics are rich, thoughtful & passionate. They span a very broad spectrum of personal ideas about life, love & humanity.
